The damp soil sings

BY: Hillary Murphy

Midsummer showers

Oh how they power

And plow and

The sky just couldn’t hold out

They drift and they stow like

An undertow,

Step my feet in the grass

Just as it’s past

The sun…

It’s out now, and it shines

And glistens-somehow

As the drops from the trees

Waver in wind’s breeze

It’s the smell that gets me…

The damp soil sings

A radiant memory…

A reverie of you,

And the darkness

strewn away

like this mid summer day.

A new light to follow

One with glistening power

After rain, the light comes

and takes

my breath, once again

Like true love

‘till the end.
